Complete Style Joinery 2020 Trend Forecast

Choosing the colour scheme for your home is no easy feat. There are several factors to be considered. Are you decorating the home as your forever home or do you need to consider re-sale? The answer to theses questions should influence your decision on colour selections. If it is your forever home the world is your oyster, you can fulfill your wildest dreams with no restraint. If, however, you are looking to a future sale you must be more constrained with your choices, probably sticking to a neutral palette.

Many people will cave under the enormity of these decisions with thousands of paint colours available to choose from. They may employ an interior designer or use an in-house colour consultant that some paint shops offer such as Haymes Paints.

For those with a progressive spirit here are the colour predictions for 2020.

Colours

Colour choices are driven by what we see in the media and resonate with your personality and lifestyle.

For those living a busy and hectic life, calm and neutral colours with inspiration drawn from nature will help balance out the energy in your home. Create spaces that have a calming and relaxing ambiance.

If you are looking for impact and want to make a bold statement, predictions are pointing to strong colour blocks of blues and greens.

Dark and moody is on trend, with black being integrated into joinery and décor.

Having hints of Metallics is very on trend. Laminex has released new Laminates in Brushed Brass and Copper, which can be integrated into designs for a little bit of interest and bling!

Many Handles are also now available in metallic finishes too.

Textures

Natural and Raw are certainly the front runners in the Texture field. Timber grain used as an accent or feature to joinery is trending. Teamed with neutrals or colour the impact is fantastic. Polytec and Laminex both offer realistic timber laminate and board products in textured finishes.

Matt finishes seem to be the front runner in joinery. Polytec and Laminex both have products that have a matt finish. Fingerprints are the main concern with matt board, but they seem to be pretty finger proof resistant.

Gloss has taken a back seat in the trends. Essa Stone and Caesar Stone both now offer matt finished stones.

Styles

The Shaker Door is by far the most popular style. I wouldn't call the style Hamptons or French Provincial, I see it as Modern Australian Country. I see this trend continuing into 2020. Complete Style Joinery manufacture our own true square profiled shaker door for 2 Pac painting. Polytec offer many other profiles in their vinyl range of doors.

Open shelving has made a come back and I see it staying with us for 2020.

I would like to see the re-emergence of "gantry" or suspended shelving. Taking ideas from commercial kitchens for easy access to glasses, plates and pans.

2019 has seen an abundance of contemporary Black Matt kitchens. With flat doors and clean lines. The colour palette available in Matt finishes continues to expand, so I see this trend continuing into 2020. Perhaps with metallics used as highlights.

It is worth noting when using colours other than white that the same colour is used under wall cabinets.

Complete Style Joinery do this, and it really makes a difference to the finished look of a new kitchen.

Colour can also be used inside your cabinets. A colour carcase adds a real sense of sophistication to cabinetry. Drawer sides are available in different finishes other than white. Door hinges are now also available in black. Call into our showroom to see the options available.
